Energy Efficiency Testing

RN Electronics can offer energy efficiency testing for appliances to help you meet the energy usage requirements for Europe, Canada and California.

The ErP directive came into effect in the EU from 20th November 2010. Several Implementing Measures (IM) were introduced to enforce the directive, one of which is manufactures are obliged to ensure lowest possible energy usage in standby and off mode.

The power requirements that most equipment will need to comply with are:

By January 7th 2010 - Off mode not to exceed 1W consumption.
                                  - Standby mode not to exceed 1W or 2W if providing information or status display.

By January 7th 2013 - Off mode not to exceed 0.5W consumption.
                                  - Standby mode not to exceed 0.5W or 1W if providing information or status display.

Measuring low standby currents with bad power factors is a challenge. We at RN Electronics can help you overcome that and ensure that your product meets the above standby/off mode power limits.
