Company Profile
RN Electronics Ltd was established in 1986 by the directors Roger & Sue Ray.
In 1990 the Company moved to the present premises at Arnolds Farm Lane, Mountnessing. At that time the Company was primarily an RF design consultancy undertaking the design and development of a wide range of wireless products. The EMC test facility was set up within the site to ensure that products designed were compliant with all EMC and radio type approval requirements.
A sample of the design work includes:
| VHF Video Transmitter |
900 MHz Transmitter |
| Paging Transmitters |
1.8 GHz Receiver |
| PMR Equipment |
Wide Band Amplifiers |
| Personal Communicator |
Wireless Intercom |
| ARC Detection System |
Power Oscillator |
| 2.4 GHz Spread Spectrum |
UHF Alarm Transmitter |
From 1993 onwards EMC and radio testing of client products became a major role of the company, using the expertise gained in product design to assist clients to achieve compliance.
Our range of testing soon expanded into coaxial cables for the satellite broadcast industry, after-market automotive components as witnessed by the VCA and medical devices.
The company’s strong RF focus continues today with experienced RF engineers and the third director - Paul Darragh – a former Notified Body for the R&TTE Directive and microwave test lab manager in California, USA.
Key Milestones
1999 We developed the RNE678 benchmark for coaxial cables used in satellite broadcast reception, which was adopted by the Confederation of Aerial Industries (CAI).
2001 We expanded our test facility, incorporating Cambridge Test & Measurement Services (CTMS) into our site here in Brentwood and steadily increased our range of services, including a large indoor semi-anechoic chamber, dramatically reducing the amount of test time required on an OATS.
May 2002 The Company became a UKAS accredited Testing Laboratory no.2360.
Oct 2003 The OATS and our large semi anechoic site m chamber were FCC listed. Hired two additional EMC engineers.
Feb 2004 We welcomed Paul Darragh as our Test Manager, to take over the daily running of the test facility.
2005 Started testing "shotgun" (twin) coaxial cables.
Dec 2007 Opened a new anechoic chamber for automatic antenna RPE measurements.
Mar 2008 Received UKAS accreditation for automotive testing.
2009 Appointed as a Technical Service by the VCA.
Jan 2010 Appointed as a MET auditor for factory inspections of listed products (safety approved for use in the USA).
Aug 2010 We will be opening a new safety laboratory for R&TTE Directive, LVD an MDD testing.
