Product Safety Certification for North America

The NRTL (Nationally Recognized Test Laboratory) Listing Scheme provides the framework for products needing to meet the mandatory requirements of the Canadian and USA markets.

In the USA, most electrical / electronic equipment intended for use in the work place will need to comply with the listing requirements. While for Canada, the scope of the legislation is extended to also cover items used in the home.

The NRTL Listing Scheme comprises of the main elements:

• Evaluation of the Quality Management System controlling the manufacturing processes.
• Test and assessment of the product against the relevant safety standard e.g. UL 60950-1.
• Regular audits (minimum Factory Follow Ups 2x per annum) of the manufacturing facility.

RN Electronics Ltd, in conjunction with their NRTL partner, is pleased to offer a new service for those seeking to enter the above markets:

• A pre-certification review of the product and advice on the necessary documentation that will be needed in support of the certification application.
• Submission of the product to the NRTL and monitoring of progress, advising of any points raised.
• Factory Follow Ups (RN Electronics are empowered to conduct the on-going audits) per the agreed schedule with the NTRL.
