Amendment to the licence exemption regulations
OFCOM has announced the launch of a consultation proposing an amendment to the licence exemption regulations to close the 10.675GHz to 10.699GHz band, currently authorised for motion detection and short range data-links, for future use.
The reason cited is that this band is designated by the ITU (International Telecommunications Union) as a quiet band for the exclusive use of earth resource satellites. The UK use of this band pre-dates the ITU regulation. An alternative band in the frequency range 10.577GHz to 10.597GHz is already available.
