Are your fire detection and fire alarm systems fully compliant?
RN Electronics offers testing and certification services of wireless / radio communication in fire detection and fire alarm systems.
Components of wireless and non-wireless (fire) alarm systems, intended for use in and around buildings in residential, commercial, light industrial and industrial environments such as construction sites are required to be tested to EN 50130-4, for EMC immunity requirements.
However, the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU requires both emissions and immunity compliance, other appropriate standards will need to be applied to cover the unwanted emission aspects of the directive. For most cases, this is typically done by applying the generic emissions standard applicable to the intended environment.
Wireless / radio communication technologies in fire detection and fire alarm systems in the UK generally use 433 MHz and 868 MHz, and are required to be tested to the following radio standards:
- ETSI EN 300 220-1
- ETSI EN 300 220-2
- ETSI EN 301 489-1
- ETSI EN 301 489-3
RN Electronics are UKAS accredited for the radio and EMC standards mentioned above plus many others. Contact us to discuss your requirements and how we can help.
