Consultation on proposals to make 872-876MHz & 917-921MHz spectrum available

Ofcom has published a consultation on proposals to make 872-876 MHz and 917-921MHz spectrum available on a licence exempt basis with technical conditions that enable Short Range Device (SRD) and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) use, the published consultation on the proposals can be viewed here.

In addition, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) has previously announced that it plans to release adjacent spectrum at 870-872 MHz and 915-917 MHz.

Subject to consultation within Government, the MOD will either transfer its management to another Government department, or release it to Ofcom. If released to Ofcom, it is proposed that it will be made available on the same license exempt basis as 872-876 MHz and 917-921 MHz spectrum.
