News: Extension of the RF spectrum reserved for the 2012 Olympics
OFCOM have announced an extension of the RF spectrum reserved for the 2012 London Olympics in anticipation of increased demand from wireless cameras and associated technology. All wireless equipment used will first require approval to the R&TTE Directive, to ensure that the band is used effectively. R N Electronics can assist in testing these technologies and guiding manufacturers through the process. Contact us today for immediate assistance.
As the games draw nearer, manufacturers and broadcasters are keen to implement the latest technology. Recent advances, such as 3D sports cameras, augmented reality (used at Wimbledon 2010) and HD TV, all point to greater bandwidth demands. OFCOM are therefore proposing to reserve the 2.6 GHz band (2500 – 2690 MHz) for official 2012 London Olympics use. Full details of the OFCOM statement can be viewed here
