Industry Canada Releases Issue 5 of It's EMC Standard ICES-003
Industry Canada has released Issue 5 of its EMC standard ICES-003. This updates the test methods, from CISPR 22 :1997, which were limited to testing emissions up to 1GHz only and were incompatible with the applicable American standards.
Now the manufacturer has the choice of using either CISPR 22 or the US standard ANSI C63.4. I.e. a product tested to the latest standards for either Europe or America will also be compliant in Canada. A transition period ending August, 31, 2013, is provided, within which compliance with ICES-003, Issue 5, or ICES-003, Issue 4, will be accepted. After this time all products that operate above 108MHz will need testing to the extended frequency range of the latest standards.
RN Electronics can assist exporters of equipment to Canada by providing test reports to the relevant tests on a compliant site as well as advising on correct labelling and how to achieve compliance.
