Ofcom has set out a series of next steps on the use of ‘mobile repeater' devices
Repeaters retransmit and boost mobile signals. Until now they have been difficult to license, because of interference concerns.
Today’s document, which follows a Call for Inputs in August 2014, is focused on resolving those concerns with industry, so that Ofcom might allow consumers to put repeaters where they are needed to improve mobile coverage. These devices could play an important role in improving coverage inside buildings, vehicles, trains – and in more remote rural locations.
The recommended approach is based on industry stakeholders submitting to Ofcom devices that are not likely to cause undue interference to other mobile users. Read the full article here.
